MIAS Mountain Bike Leader Level 1/2
Service Description
The MIAS Mountain Bike Leader Award is recognised throughout the UK and abroad. It is the national gauge against which standards of competence are measured. The course is a 2 day combined level 1 and level 2 course. This course provides training and assessment over the 2 days. During the training element I will determine which assessment would be most appropriate for each participant. Location: Day 1 - Gisburn Forest (BB7 4TS) Day 2 - Hurstwood, Worsthorne Who's this course for? This course is for those wanting to lead groups in a variety of off road environments. This includes teachers, youth group leaders (scouts, cadets etc) MOD personnel, outdoor centre staff and more. Course Syllabus: Risk Management & Assessment Group Management Personal Riding Skills Navigation + Route Planning Equipment Checks Emergency Bike Repairs Level 1 Non Technical Terrain – This award allows access into low-level terrain, with few potential hazards, i.e. country parks, canal towpaths, and non-wilderness areas where help is almost immediately accessible. Includes blue forest trail routes. Level 2 Technical Terrain – This award allows access into open country, with the potential hazards that surround such terrain. The leader will operate within 30 minutes of cycling assistance. AALS may also require you to hold additional qualifications to work in this terrain. Includes red forest trail routes. Those wanting to be assessed at level 2 must be able to demonstrate a strong level of personal mountain biking skills including controlled braking, drops and more. Trail Explorer offers build up training prior to the course if you feel you need to work on advanced mountain biking skills, navigation, maintenance and more. The course has national accreditation with The Association of British Cycle Coaches (A.B.C.C.), Investors in People Award and is recognised by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), Adventuremark.

To cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 2 days before your booking. Cancelled bookings will receive a refund excluding a £20 administration fee.
